Just got home from a trip, and I finally got to finish what I've been working on for quite a while. I've always been fascinated by warfare in different eras, and this time I felt that the early days of firearms during the 15th-17th century needed some representation around here
What you're seeing is rows of tercios* duking it out on a huge battlefield; and the brave battle-drummer trying to avoid bullets through sheer willpower.
*The tercio was an infantry formation made up of pikemen, swordsmen and arquebusiers or musketeers in a mutually supportive formation. The formation dominated European battlefields in the sixteenth century and the first half of the seventeenth century and is seen by historians as a major development of Early Modern combined arms warfare.
