Description

Just got home from a trip, and I finally got to finish what I've been working on for quite a while. I've always been fascinated by warfare in different eras, and this time I felt that the early days of firearms during the 15th-17th century needed some representation around here =) What you're seeing is rows of tercios* duking it out on a huge battlefield; and the brave battle-drummer trying to avoid bullets through sheer willpower.

*The tercio was an infantry formation made up of pikemen, swordsmen and arquebusiers or musketeers in a mutually supportive formation. The formation dominated European battlefields in the sixteenth century and the first half of the seventeenth century and is seen by historians as a major development of Early Modern combined arms warfare. Tough f**ers... You won those battles by literally standing up and taking more shot than the enemy, while firing faster. IIRC the command string at the time was usually "ready, level, fire", without bothering with the "aim" command.
